Christmas Thought.

A beautiful Christmas quote from our sermon today...

december daily 2011

It’s not something we like to do; it’s uncomfortable. It is much easier to keep the humanity out of the incarnation. Clean the manure from around the manger. Wipe the sweat out of His eyes. Pretend He never snored or blew His nose or hit His thumb with a hammer.
He’s easier to stomach that way. There is something about keeping Him divine that keeps Him distant, packaged, predictable.
But don’t do it. For heaven’s sake, don’t. Let Him be as human as He intended to be. Let Him into the mire and muck of our world. For only if we let Him in can He pull us out.

Merry Christmas friends.

  1. Thanks for reminding me of Max Lucado & the real earthiness of God.

  2. Love, love, love this..thanks for sharing momma!

  3. I would go to church if I could find one like this! Have you ever heard "Ballad of Mary Magdalene" by Dar Williams? (Whether you agree or disagree with the context) It's a gorgeous song & story that makes you realize that Jesus gave up a life here on earth and left people who loved and missed him. Maybe that shouldn't be considered such a big part of his sacrifice, but it is to me.

    Love this post!

  4. I adore these pictures!!! so precious. The smiling and laughing is priceless!
