What is your favorite fairytale??...

When I was younger, my mom would let us four kids rent one movie each on (some) weekends.  Us girls usually picked Faerie Tale Theatre movies (on VHS-- yeah, remember those!?!).  I think my favorites were the 12 Dancing Princesses, The Little Mermaid, and Rapunzel.  (I actually have a weird obsession with radishes from the Rapunzel one, lol...I can eat radishes like nobody's business.)

Tonight, per the advice of some of *your* comments, the kids and I snuggled down into my bed and watched the first episode of Once Upon a Time.  (Niamh told me it was going to be boring because it was titled 'Pilot'...I tried to explain to her it wasn't about a guy flying a plane.)  The Yankees game was rained out, so even Phil came in and laid at the end of the bed to watch a bit.  Kiddos loved it:).  Phil...I think he fell asleep, but I'll cut sleeping beauty a break this time;).  And me.  Well, it reminded me of the old princess movies we use to watch as kids.

So, thank you awesome readers who left the recommendation:). I owe you:).

Speaking of fairytales, I'm joining a fun Blowfish Shoes fairytale-inspired challenge on Friday!  Let's make Friday extra fun...come on back for a peek at my styled-up outfit and a free fairytale digi!!!

And in the meantime, you can use code: BFCANARY15 for 15% off your Blowfish shoes purchase in the month of October:).  These are my Vamp booties.  I love 'em!

See you on Friday!!

  2. i didnt have a favorite growing up. i never even heard one. my upbringing was not normal and nowhere near good and we will just leave it at that. i did however find fairy tales as an adult and shared the experience with my daughters. it was a new thing for all of us and we got to dream it together. a very awesome and excellent bonding for all of us. i am for all things cinderella, we even named one of our dogs cinderella. (i think it has something to do with the shoes lol)

  4. I have always loved Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs. Such a time-honored classic! It had to be something to be part of the audiences to view it on the 'big screen' for the 1st time. I love the song "off to work" they sing with such gaiety. My favorite dwarf? Sleepy! <3 him!

  6. I didn't really have a favourite - but I disliked all the dark trolls ones.Your boots look super with the neutral colours of your clothes - & your hair looks brilliant with the whole wardrobe - positively glowing.

  11. My fav was Rapunzel, it might have been because I had thigh length- and still growing- curly hair until I hit teenage years and decided I knew best and had it all cut off, a really short pixie cut! Oh my! that day I learned maybe mamma did know best and have been trying unsuccessfully to grow it back ever since.
I am so in love with your boots Krista!! But I just went over to blowfish and they don't ship international :( soooo disappointed, one benefit of being in a wheelchair? I can wear heels and my feet don't ache LOL (well no more than usual anyway) my family frown at me when I say things like that but I tell them, just cos I have wheels don't mean my feet can't look pretty.. heeheehee.
    Love and hugs

  20. The vamp boots look fab, is there a nak to walking in them, I only asked as I normally wear sensible shoes that allow me not to struggle when lifting my sons wheelchair in and out of the car boot and when helping push him around. i I wanted some girlie shoes and found some fab sparkly black glittery ones that had quite a high heel and platform with a rounded sole like your vamp boots. I had to admit as I tried walking around the store I actually felt as though I would rock forward and fall flat on my face. Is there a nak and how long does it take to get use to walking in that style of sole as they really were lovely shoes and totally not sensible.

  22. my family and I are more fans of 'Grimm'... have you watched that one yet? might be a little scary for the kiddos though. we really like it. :)

  23. Lovin' your outfit Krista, especially the boots! My favorite old style fairy tale Beauty and the Beast. I collected lots of versions through the years. My favorite versions are the ones by Robin McKinley - her "Beauty" is well loved in our household. The grands ask for it every monthly sleepover. I've been watching Once Upon A Time and Grimm - both great shows, although Grimm would be better for teens rather than younger.

  24. I think my favorite princess would have to be Belle from Beauty and the Beast with Ariel from the Little Mermaid following a close second. As for my 7 year old, she is obsessed with Rapunzel from Tangled and Snow White. :) BTW lovely photos of you. You seem so full of life and joy. :)

  25. Oh Krista, you will love Once Upon A Time. I can't wait for the second season. Watch out for the twists and turns! I won't spoil it for you but there are definitely some surprises!

I think my favourite fairytale has to be Cinderella - I love it when the little mouse shouts "Happy Birthday" and it's not Cinderella's birthday! So cute!

    Have fun watching.
