I received a couple Facebook messages asking whether we were in the path of Hurricane Sandy.
Thanks guys! That was so thoughtful:)!!
Yes.
We are nestled right in South Jersey, where she is suppose to make landfall sometime late tomorrow/ early Tuesday morning.
I thought we were free and clear this year- it being almost Halloween and all!
But Sandy had to get all friendly and is really insisting on a visit...
So we made some preparations.
Like buying the staples for hurricane survival.
Ridiculous amounts of batteries and water.
Lots of dog food.
A ton of candles. (As many as I could find in pine scent...so we may loose our house, but it will smell like Christmas while we do.)
PB and J.
Diet Coke. (I will not survive personally without it.)
And lots of other really, really important things...

Like Ice.
And we got there a little late. So I started sweating and freaking out.
Not because I thought we would die without it...but I didn't want to have to tell my mom I waited till the last minute and had to go iceless. Especially when she told me to get some the night before!
Yup...all gone.
So that is when you tell your kids to get on the ground and see if they can get a glimpse of any in the back, hidden in reserve for the lucky employee families.
And when they spot those hidden bags, push your youngest kid through the door onto the shelf...
Tell him to man up and go save his family from Sandy.
Luckily, the store employee saw Philly's ankles hanging out of the freezer and offered to go grab us three bags.
Lovely man.

Good thing I am super prepared and have my priorities in the right spot, because I did pick up the most important things before stopping for ice...
Like all the Home Alone movies.
And cheetah print slippers.
Which will be perfect if we get flooded.
And a few extra flash lights.
All of which will have run out of batteries before the storm even gets here because of being used like this for creepy story-telling.
I know.
I know...
You thought I forgot the most important thing-- Smash supplies.
Nope, got them too.
So now I can be smashing as our house floats away.
Told you I am prepared:).
On a more serious note,
I hope that all of you in the path of Sandy stay safe and sound.
Hope by the time she gets to you, that she is much less than a hurricane and simply moves out quick. I know that a lot of my crafty friends are scattered up and down the eastern seaboard, so my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We are just gonna hang out here for the next few days.
Philly and Niamh's school is already cancelled through Tuesday...
And Phineas and Ferb are keeping smiles on our faces!

I am scheduling a sneak peek post for tomorrow...so even if we lose power, there should be something fun for you guys to check out:). I may not be able to publish comments or respond to emails, depending on the electric situation...
But I will get to them all eventually!
Have a great week, friends...wherever you are!
Hugs!

yep, you got all the necessities! now i want some doritos and I have no storm excuse...just another lil excuse. hehe anyhoo, hope you all have fun and most importanly stay safe. the best storms are the ones that just rain a lot with a little bit of rain but enough of a hype to be able to have some off time from school. growing up in FL those were the best storms. i'm grateful i never had to endure a real bad hit. praying for everyone in the path of this one. **hugs**
ReplyDeleteReally sorry to hear you're in Sandy's path. Will be thinking of you all & praying for you. Looking forward to seeing your happy blog post to say it's gone past & you're all safe & happy. Loads of love xxx

ReplyDeleteWatching the news here in the uk and it looks bad.
ReplyDeletePlease guys all stay safe.
Almost bed time here but will be watching the news at 6 am ( my time )
Thankfully we don't get too many disasters here in CO. On the other hand, Phineas & Ferb would be an excellent choice for mom & boy today! :) Keep safe!

Stay safe!! We are right down the road from you in VA and prepping too. ;) Our supplies looked awfully alike, add in some chocolate brownies, and chocolate filled twinkies. Notice the chocolate theme? That is what I have called my "C" batteries - because without it I don't function well. teehee! Hugs and hoping the electricity stays on! Is it too much to ask for friendly inclement weather?
ReplyDeletehaha!! love your C battery!!
DeleteYou seem to have this one figured out! I love that you went for all pine scents and ice is super important! Praying that it does lose strength and goes by fast! Great post.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and will be keeping you all in our prayers! Hugs! Leah Ann
ReplyDeleteYour friends on the WEST coast are dripping in rain, but (still) know you are in for much worse. We lost our power last night for about 3 hours...way KEWL! You all take care, and be careful! May God Bless...
ReplyDeleteKrista I will send a little prayer up for you, your family and all those affected, may you all stay safe. Joey xxx
ReplyDeleteStay safe and sending luv from across the pond. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers ..... take care. Hugs from Helen Jane x
ReplyDeleteStay safe and sip an ICE cold cocktail!!!
ReplyDeleteStay safe!! I will be thinking of you all over there and hoping that Sandy realises she is not welcome and moves on quickly.
ReplyDeleteLove your post and your positive attitude. I was thinking of you when I heard the news a couple of days ago that Sandy was going to hit. I remember the last time when you were packed off to stay with your mum (I think?). Stay safe honey and let us know when its over to tell us you're all OK.

Stay safe Krista! Looks like you're all ready for the big storm!
ReplyDeleteKrista, I luv your sense of humor girl! By the way can I ask where you found those cheetah print slippers? I've been looking for something like that & have had no luck finding them...inquiring minds want to know, PLEASE do tell!!! I'm in Massachusetts & we are prepared as well...lots of snacks & soda here too, so we will be pigging out! Stay safe & God Bless you & your family!

ReplyDeleteBe safe too, Mama!
ReplyDeleteWe are anticipating the big winds tomorrow, so no school for my 3 munchkins!
Your post had me lmao...lol! Too cute with the kids peek-a-booing for ice! Glad you got some(:
Stay cozy and snug-a-bug until this storm is over.
My daughter is very concerned that Trick-O-Treating will be cancelled and it maybe the first year it is a wash, we shall see. However you spend your Halloween, be safe and have fun with the munchkins rain or shine!!
Love ya's!

HOping you don't get hit to hard Krista, but on the bright side you've got some awesome family fun set up. We actually are on advisory in London, Ontario. Which would probably be a normal rain storm for your area. So stay safe.
ReplyDeleteJennifer
What an amazing post whilst in the midst of all your preparations, we're so lucky here in the UK, especially where I am , thinkin of everyone in the affected areas and prayers to keep you safe, x
ReplyDeleteOh, you stay safe. It's good to see you got all the important stuff and I even picked up a few pointers for if I ever need them. :) I'm praying everyone in the path of Sandy is safe.

ReplyDeleteStay safe through this all. At least you are prepared. Tara has no school tomorrow. I'm hoping to maybe get out in the morning to Target (I want to get some Dear Lizzy stuff & see if they have the 365 smashbook) & also get some bread, water & some other things. They say the winds will be worse here tomorrow between noon-9pm. So I should be able to get some smashbook stuff. I told my daughter we would smashbook tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteKeep safe. Thinking of you. Hugs Nina
ReplyDeletePraying for you, your family, and the East Coast. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteHi there! I like the way you manage to prepare a safety nest for your children but also you keep it quite funny, wich makes it more easy to pass throught. I live in Montreal, we gonna have big wind but not «the» Sandy, we are all with you and if you light up all the candles, you could always find your house by the smelling!
ReplyDeleteOlive xox
Thinking of you Krista.. I hope you all will be safe. Love your photos.. they always put a smile on my face!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
At least you'll be able to smash all the lovely memories you're making during the storm, lol! But all joking aside you and your family are in my thoughts and I'll be keeping an eye out for updates...many hugs, Katie

You're an amazing person Krista! The kidlets will have an adventure with you. Smash away and know you are on our hearts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a nice response to your post. Add my well wishes to the others. I live in Arizona, the worst we get is monsoon season, we lose power for a couple days in 114° weather. The power company trucks in dry ice and bottled water.
