CHA Week...and a Winner

I'm going to CHA in July:).  I'll be hopping around the show, checking out some booths I've already got on my 'snoop list'...and also be setting up shop for part of Tuesday and Wednesday in Booth #918, where my new rubber stamps will be revealed!  That is pretty exciting:).

To be honest, my heart sinks a little when I think of leaving the kids and Phil.  I really have parting issues:).  (Seriously.  I feel homesick away from them.)  But, my mom asked to come along.  She has always wanted to go to Chicago...and I've never had the opportunity to just go on a vacation with mom.  Just mom and me:).  So she is making this a special and exciting trip.  I'm very thankful for this working out and getting that one on one time with her!  

During the week of CHA, I'm planning a super fun string of posts, giveaways, and guest posts!  It will be a lot of fun around here that week-- you definitely won't want to miss it!:)  I'll have two more cameras to giveaway (yup.  TWO more!) and a bunch of other goodies.  I'm excited to invite some friends to guest post as well...And yes!  I will post a free digi for ya'll.

Smash Summer

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'm not always good about sticking to a theme in any particular Smash book.  I have stayed true to a couple.  I use my big purple book for the kids and one of my books for faith-related things, like hymnals and sermon notes, even devotions.  The others, if they originally had a theme, I've probably scrapped it by now:) and moved in a more random direction in them.  Anyways, I had this green guy..and thought he was sort of perfect for summer 2012.  

I love summer photos.  They are some of my favorites of the kids...and summer is simply my favorite part of the year.  I love it!  I've kept this book full of only summer...and expect that by the end of August, it will be chalk FULL of beautiful memories:).  

These two pages I devoted to my running/clean eating.  (I'm much more faithful on the first part of that...but I'm trying to eat clean more consistently:)...I saw this quote in my Oxygen magazine by Tosca Reno, and it really spoke to me-- so it had to go in my book:).  I really do run a lot, and even more in the warm months, so the calendar part is an easy way for me to keep track of the days I've done my long runs (I also do this here and there on Map My Run).  Also, the days I've respected my body and ate clean.  I like the thought of that-- eating to respect your "finely tuned cells."  God's creation deserves to be taken care of, and that means us, too!:)

He still generously gives me kisses whenever I pucker up

...although, he does come back with the occasional question, "is there lipstick on me now?"  

To which I reply (in my shaky, heartbroken voice), "YES!! Who have you been kissing??!!!!"  

hehehe.  

Our weekend was slow and fun and filled with smiles.  Just the way a weekend should be:).  Niamh went away with her Grandmom to see her Great Grandmom.  And we hung out with mr. baseball on Friday.  The kids and I even managed to see Brave.  Yes.  Another Disney movie to add to the 'Made Me Cry' list.  

Really, Disney...stop being so touching.  

It is ruining my tough exterior :).  

Loved the last couple days!

                 Somewhere between a rat's nest and a frizz convention.  

And it doesn't really get any better.

And I have a terrible case of ponytail envy when I see Cute Ponytail Girl walk by.  Sometimes I just want to yank her hair real hard.  

I know.

It's a sin.  I'm workin' on it.  

I'll embrace my crazy.ugly.what-the-heck-is-going-on-up-there pony.

The Queen.

 

 

 

I'm inspired by lots and lots of things.  Sometimes it will be a random thing in my day-- something will strike me as, 'huh...that would be perfect for a card.'  It might be an idea from a song.  A funny thing one of the kids say.  Even just a random person in public...I'll need to put their hair or smile or funny expression on a character.  

I saw Snow White and the Huntsman last week.  I guess as far as movies go, I'd give it a B-.  That is mostly due to the fact that Bella ditched the skinny, toothy dude for Thor, and then never even kissed the guy the whole movie.  I mean, how can you be rescued by Thor and not at least high five mr. muscles??  Anyways.  I digress. 

I did LOVE the evil queen, though.  I'd watch the movie again just because she gave me chills:).  She was a great villain...the kind that wins you over...if that makes any sense. Like, you want them to loose;  but you also kinda like the character.  I went home and knew exactly what I wanted to draw that night:).  I didn't draw her very menacing:)...But, in general, I'd say don't accept the apple from her, as inviting as she seems:).  

And I'm not even sure what cards she would be appropriate for...I guess you could always send her to someone who really gets under your skin, LOL.  Anyways, she is fun to color, and even more fun to dream up a sentiment for!

OCNJ Beach

Beach Day # 1 is in the books.

3 hours of fun in the sun...and water, too!

And boy is it hot today!  95 degrees!  And tomorrow, even hotter.  

I'm grabbin' the hubs and heading down again tomorrow!  

I tell ya, we could just live there.  Right on the sand.  

If you've got an iPhone and want to play around with some photo stuff on it, check out *this* lens shop.  I took some of these photos with the fisheye lens (see the distortion around Philly:) and a couple with the wide/macro lens.  They are awesome little gadgets to attach to your phone for easy-peasy, cool pics!  

Okay...so what's the surfer sign Philly has got up there??...I'm not up on the hand signal stuff-- although I'm pretty sure this one has been around forever:).  Hang Loose??  Surf's up??  Or is it just a messed up 'I love you, mom' ???  

Who knows:)...

Mom-ish Sneaks.

sneakers/Blowfish. skirt/? tank/Target. bracelet/Khols

I love these little sneakers from Blowfish.  They aren't a typical shoe I gravitate towards.  They are just little flats.  Simple and comfy. 

I thought they made great 'mom' shoes:). I know, I know.  Who wants to dress mom-ish??  EEK.  I'm definitely not one to jump on that train...but I started to think recently that maybe it's not such bad thing after all.  I mean, moms can be stylish, too...There is a little glimmer of hope for us, right?  I have ump-teen pairs of heels in my closet.  Many never worn.  They just sit there so pretty.  I imagine that someday I will need a hot pink, 5 inch heel.  But today.  I'm just a mom picking up my kids from camp...and I'm at the point in life where it makes me happy to dress like a mom.  It is a privilege to love these two goofballs...so, even though these little sneaks don't add any height (and, therefore, don't give me the illusion of losing 5 lbs), I'm okay with it:).  And they aren't *hot* pink.  But they are super cool--as in mesh-- so yeah, actually *cool*.  

And this mom can BOOK.IT. in these sneaks.  I could never impress the kids with my lightening speed in my hot pinks...

So...mom-ish is okay sometimes:)...even stylish!

And the mom part, specifically...

Well, that part just totally rocks.
