Chalkboard Wall.

I've been somewhat MIA.
Kind of re-thinking my approach to blogging and business.
Giving God space to lead me, teach me, and shape my heart for his calling.

And then we added a side project of re-doing our 'sun room.'
(We only call it that because it is one of the few places
in our home with plenty of natural light.)
Niamh actually calls it our "Castle Room." When she was 2, we moved in here...
And to her, it looked like a castle:).
Or, maybe the rest of the house just looked like a dungeon...
Either way,
We started with this.

And ended up here.
Which besides looking better, is way more fun and entertaining than a rotting-out door:).
Our chalkboard wall.

I've wanted a chalkboard painted wall forever...
And since we couldn't find a match to our awesome 1970's panelling that covers the rest of the room, we decided a chalkboard wall was the perfect answer to our problem.
And we are having a ball:).

So that is a little of where my week went.
No blogging, but plenty of life in the meantime:).
And a ton of messy, chalky hands and shirts.

  2. ahaaaaa AHAA.. there you are my sweets!! And yes, THIS is an awesome reason for being M.I.A - LOVE that room (so shabby chic, country vintage, groovy baby). Way to have a blast with that wall! I've heard you can make any colour chalkboard paint.. so that tempts me sometimes....
Now you can use chalk on the walls, and your HAIR! ;o)
Anyway, know that we're here - eager to see where your blog is growing/changing/transforming/renewing to. Cuz, if it's got you - and you got God - then it's awesome sauce! ;o)

  19. What an awesome room, you´ve made here, and I can see from the pics, that the kids already love it too. What a ball they can have being allowed to color the walls every single day, if they like ha ha ha. I think, that must be every kids dream. I have also seen this paint a few places here now, so guess, it´s comming here this way too soon, so we can get to do something simular overhere as well. It´s really awesome.
Have a wonderful day hun and hopefully you got everything sorted out, that needed to be. Take good care.

  25. What a fabulously creative way to embrace family time in a {castle} family room! Love the idea of making an entire wall the chalkboard (and how cute to see a couple of trays of chalk just waiting for their turns to be used).

  26. WOW My Friend,
How great it looks too, I loved the idea the other week when you mentioned it and thought it would be great, and it is!!! I see you are enjoying it just as much as the kids, lol....a great place to put a daily scripture though to guide your day with, and then the kiddos can have fun on it when they aren't at school, yep, fantastic idea, keeps little hands busy too, lol, lots of love to you all, hugs & blessings, Vick xxx

  29. Reminds of our chalkboard wall. It was in the kitchen and we all had to do our homework on it before we put it to paper! Oh, the good old days!

  30. I'm a little jealous! LOL. We are actually allowed to paint in our house as long as we return it to the original color if we move... and well we have vaulted ceilings and not ladders tall enough anyway, LOL. This just might be worth it though... Hmmmmm.

  33. Krista .. I love this. I want to do this in my daughters room. Heck, I want to do do this where even I (in bold here!) can play to. The photo of your Niamh writing about Boston brought tears to my eyes. You have yourself a very sweet young lady (and gentleman to!) there. Bless their hearts. I love that you're taking time to reflect .. look at what you've accomplished and look at how much fun everyone is having!!!!
